Hurricanesports.comATLANTA — One day after posting a fifth-place finish in the 1-meter event at the 2016 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships, Miami sophomore diver Briadam Herrera delivered a dazzling encore Friday.
Herrera picked up the third All-America honors of his career and second of the week with a second-place finish in the 3-meter.
Herrera ended the day as the national runner-up, posting a career-best finish in the NCAA Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the Georgia Tech campus.
Herrera posted a score of 404.75 in preliminaries to qualify for the night’s finals. He ended the day less than three points (457.65) behind national champion Dominic Giordano of Pittsburgh (460.30), finishing in second.
The Havana, Cuba native has a decorated history in 3-meter events, and continued that trend Friday night.
Herrera took a bronze medal at the 2015 World University Games for Team USA in Gwangju, South Korea and has earned two gold medals in 3-meter at the 2015 and 2016 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships.
